CHERIoT pakub riistvaralisi v\u00f5imalusi m\u00e4lu juurdep\u00e4\u00e4su j\u00e4lgimiseks, pointerite \u00f5iguse kontrollimiseks ja koodiplokkide isoleerimise tagamiseks. Samuti on avaldatud stabiilne versioon CHERIoT ISA formaalsest mudelist, mis on m\u00e4\u00e4ratletud keeles Sail.      <\/p>\n<p>CHERIoT projekt loodi Microsofti poolt, et lahendada olemasoleva C ja C++ koodi turvaprobleeme ning kaitsta sarnast koodi ilma selle \u00fcmberkirjutamiseta. Kaitse toimub muudetud kompilaatori kaudu, mis kasutab laiemat protsessori k\u00e4su komplekti (ISA), et tagada pointerite terviklikkus, m\u00e4lu piiride kontroll ja vabastatud m\u00e4lu juurde p\u00e4\u00e4semise v\u00e4ltimine. 2023. aastal avati CHERIoTi arendused ning need muudeti koost\u00f6\u00f6projektiks, kuhu liitusid ka teised ettev\u00f5tted.     <\/p>\n<p>CHERIoT-i riistvarakomponendid on kujundatud RISC-V arhitektuuri p\u00f5hjal mikrokontrollerina, mis rakendab kaitstud protsessori arhitektuuri CHERI (Capability Hardware Extension to RISC-V) koos m\u00e4luhaldusmudeliga, mis tugineb \"capability\"-le (igal m\u00e4lu lugemise ja kirjutamise operatsioonil on volitus). CHERIoT-i pakutava k\u00e4suarsenali (ISA) p\u00f5hjal on loodud tarkvaramudeli, mis tagab objekti tasemel m\u00e4lukaitse, ennetades juurdep\u00e4\u00e4su juba vabastatud m\u00e4lule ning rakendades kerget m\u00e4lus juurdep\u00e4\u00e4su isolatsioonis\u00fcsteemi.     <\/p>\n<p>T\u00e4psemalt peegeldab antud kaitse tarkvaraline mudel C\/C++ keelmudelit, mis v\u00f5imaldab seda rakendada olemasolevates rakendustes, mille kaitsmiseks on vajalik vaid taaskompileerimine ja k\u00e4ivitamine seadmetes, mis toetavad CHERIoT ISA-d. N\u00e4iteks v\u00f5imaldab CHERIoT automaatset piiride kontrollimist, eluea j\u00e4lgimist m\u00e4lu aladel ja pointerite terviklikkuse tagamist usaldusv\u00e4\u00e4rsete andmete t\u00f6\u00f6tlemise komponentides, ilma koodis muudatusi tegemata.      <\/p>\n<p>CHERIoT abil blokeeritavad probleemid:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> M\u00e4luobjekti piiridest v\u00e4ljapoole mine;\n<li class=\"l\"> Pointerite asendamine (CHERIoTi rakendamisel peavad k\u00f5ik pointerid olema loodud olemasolevatest pointeritest);\n<li class=\"l\"> Juurdep\u00e4\u00e4s m\u00e4lu p\u00e4rast vabastamist (igany juurdep\u00e4\u00e4s m\u00e4lu vale pointeri v\u00f5i vabastatud objekti viitava pointeriga p\u00f5hjustab CHERIoT rakendamisel erandi genereerimist).  <\/ul>\n<p>Lisaks spetsifikatsioonile ja formaalsele mudelile arendab projekt standardset teostust 32-bitise RISC-V CPU Ibex, mis toetab CHERIoT ISA-d, ja muudetud t\u00f6\u00f6riistade komplekti LLVM. CPU prototiibi skeemid ja riistvarakomponentide kirjeldused Verilog keeles on avatud Apache 2.0 litsentsi alusel. CPU aluseks on Ibex tuum lowRISC projektist. CHERIoT Ibex p\u00f5hjal valmistatakse massiliselt tootmiseks ICENI kiipe, mille m\u00fc\u00fcgi algus on planeeritud j\u00e4rgmiseks aastaks. Eraldi arendab Microsoft Kudu mikrokontrollerit, mis toetab CHERIoT ISA-d. Ibex ja Kudu toetavad juba t\u00e4ielikult CHERIoT 1.0 spetsifikatsiooni. T\u00f6\u00f6 CHERI laienduste standardimise nimel RISC-V protsessoritele toimub RISC-V International organisatsioonis.      <\/p>\n<p>Lisaks arendatakse FPGA baasil platvormi emulaatorit ja Docker konteinerit arendajatele, millel on eelnevalt installitud t\u00f6\u00f6riistade komplekt ja Ibex CPU simulaator, mis on teostatud Verilator abil. Samuti on CHERIoT-i baasil loodud reaalajas operatsioonis\u00fcsteemi protot\u00fc\u00fcp CHERIoT RTOS, mis v\u00f5imaldab compartmentide isolatsiooni isegi 256 MB RAM-ga sisseehitatud s\u00fcsteemides. CHERIoT RTOS-i kood on kirjutatud C++ keeles ja on avatud MIT litsentsi alusel. OS-i p\u00f5hilised komponendid nagu laadija, planeerija ja m\u00e4lu jaotuss\u00fcsteem on kujundatud compartmentidena.     <\/p>\n<p>Kompartiment CHERIoT RTOS-is on isoleeritud koodikombinatsioon ja globaalsete muutujate kogum, mis meenutab jagatud teeki, kuid erinevalt viimasest v\u00f5ib see muuta oma olekut (mutable) ja k\u00e4ivituda eraldi turvakontekstis. \u00dckski v\u00e4line kood ei saa edasi anda kontrolli kompartimendis olevale koodile ega p\u00e4\u00e4seda objektidele ligi, v\u00e4lja arvatud \u00fchendus spetsiaalselt m\u00e4\u00e4ratletud sisenemispunktide kaudu ja objektide kasutamine, mis on selgelt edastatud teise kompartimendi kutsumise ajal.
