The Dataram BulkCore consisted of a chassis with eight RAM memory sticks, each of 256 KiB. Compared to the first hard drive, the BulkCore was tiny: 50.8 cm long, 48.26 cm wide, and 40 cm high. Notably, the access time for data in this model was only 750 ns, which was 30,000 times faster than the most advanced HDD at the time.<\/p>\n<p>In 1978, Shugart Technology was founded, which, a year later, changed its name to Seagate Technology to avoid conflicts with Shugart Associates. After two years of work, Seagate introduced the ST-506, the first hard drive for personal computers in a 5.25-inch form factor with a capacity of 5 MiB.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the establishment of Shugart Technology, 1978 was marked by the release of the first Enterprise SSD by StorageTek. The StorageTek STC 4305 could hold 45 MiB of data. This SSD was designed as a replacement for the IBM 2305, had similar dimensions, and was priced at an incredible $400,000.<\/p>\n<p><noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/yesterbits.com\/2017\/01\/22\/axlon-ramdisk-320\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Sissejuhatus SSD-desse. Ajalugu\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/19709bf08774f6310a59e26b6bc6a327.jpg\" style=\"display:block;margin: 0 auto;\" \/><\/a><\/noindex><br \/>\nIn 1982, SSDs entered the personal computer market. The company Axlon developed an SSD disk on RAM chips specifically for the Apple II, named RAMDISK 320. Since the drive was based on volatile memory, it came with a battery to maintain data integrity. The battery allowed for 3 hours of operation in case of a power loss.<\/p>\n<p>A year later, Rodime released the first 10 MiB hard disk RO352 in the familiar 3.5-inch form factor for modern users. Despite being the first commercially available disk in this form factor, Rodime did not innovate in any significant way.<\/p>\n<p>The first product in this form factor is considered to be the floppy disk drive introduced by Tandon and Shugart Associates. Furthermore, Seagate and MiniScribe agreed on adopting the 3.5-inch industrial standard, effectively sidelining Rodime, which faced the fate of becoming a 'patent troll' and exiting the storage industry entirely.<\/p>\n<p><noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ferra.ru\/review\/computers\/evolution-hdd-blu-ray-hd-dvd-flash-nor-nand-ssd-part-2.htm\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Sissejuhatus SSD-desse. Ajalugu\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/034305fa0c62e425a38d3f4e02b3c1b6.jpg\" style=\"display:block;margin: 0 auto;\" \/><\/a><\/noindex><br \/>\n1980. aastate l\u00f5pus ja 1990. aastate alguses konkureerisid k\u00f5vakettatootjad ketaste suuruse v\u00e4hendamise nimel. 1989. aastal tutvustas ettev\u00f5te PrairieTek 20 MiB suurust PrairieTek 220 ketast 2,5-tollises vormitegija. Kaks aastat hiljem valmistas Integral Peripherals 1,8-tollise diski Integral Peripherals 1820 \"Mustang\" sama mahuga. Seda kasutas \u00e4ra ettev\u00f5te Transcend, kes 2003. aastal turule t\u00f5i SSD-kettad mahuga 16\u2013512 MiB. Selle probleemi lahendamiseks algatas NVM Express Workgroup NVMe arendamise \u2014 spetsifikatsioonid SSD-dele otsese juurdep\u00e4\u00e4su tagamiseks PCIe busside kaudu, m\u00f6\u00f6da minnes SATA kontrollijast. Kaks aastat hiljem oli esimese spetsifikatsiooni versioon valmis ja veel aasta hiljem ilmus esimene NVMe-SSD.<\/p>\n<h2>Erinevused kaasaegsete SSD ja HDD vahel<\/h2>\n<p>\nF\u00fc\u00fcsilisel tasemel on SSD ja HDD vahe kergesti m\u00e4rgatav: SSD-del puuduvad mehhaanilised elemendid ja teave salvestatakse m\u00e4lurakkudesse. Liikuvate elementide puudumine v\u00f5imaldab andmetele kiiresti juurde p\u00e4\u00e4seda igasugustes m\u00e4lukohtades, kuid on olemas piirangud kirjutamists\u00fcklite arvule. Ajavahemiku piiratud kirjutamists\u00fcklite t\u00f5ttu iga m\u00e4luraku puhul on vajalik tasakaalustamismehhanism \u2014 rakkude kulumise \u00fchtlustamine andmete \u00fclekandmise teel rakkude vahel. Selle \u00fclesande t\u00e4idab ketta kontrolls\u00fcsteem.<\/p>\n<p>SSD-kontroller vajab tasakaalu saavutamiseks teadma, millised rakud on h\u00f5ivatud ja millised vabade. Andmete salvestamine rakku on kontrolleris j\u00e4lgitav, kuid kustutamise kohta seda \u00f6elda ei saa.
