K\u00f5rge j\u00f5udluse ja ettearvatavuse tagamiseks annab Vulkan rakendustele vahendid GPU operatsioonide otseseks juhtimiseks ning sisseehitatud toetuse GPU k\u00e4su mitme\u00fcheliseks t\u00f6\u00f6tlemiseks, mis minimeerib draiveri kaasnevaid kulusid. Draiveripoolseid funktsioone lihtsustatakse ja muudetakse ettearvatavamaks. N\u00e4iteks on m\u00e4luhalduse ja veak\u00e4itlemise operatsioonid, mis OpenGL'is toimuvad draiveri tasemel, Vulkanis viidud rakenduse tasemele.<\/p>\n<p>Vulkan katab k\u00f5ik saadaval olevad platvormid ja pakub \u00fchtset API-d lauaarvutitele, mobiils\u00fcsteemidele ja veebile, v\u00f5imaldades kasutada \u00fchtset API-d erinevate graafikaprotsessorite ja rakenduste valdkondade jaoks. Vulkani mitme kihilise arhitektuuri t\u00f5ttu, mis eeldab t\u00f6\u00f6riistade loomist, mis sobivad iga GPU-ga, saavad riistvaratootjad kasutada arendamisel standardseid t\u00f6\u00f6riistu koodi kontrollimiseks, t\u00f5rkeotsimiseks ja profuleerimiseks. Shaderite loomiseks pakutakse uut \u00fclekantavat vahepealse esitluse SPIR-V, mis p\u00f5hineb LLVM-il ja kasutab OpenCL-iga jagatud baastehnoloogiaid.
