iXsystems teatas<\/a><\/noindex> to unify its products for rapid deployment of network storage (NAS, Network-Attached Storage). The free distribution FreeNAS<\/a><\/noindex> will be combined with the commercial project TrueNAS<\/a><\/noindex>, enhancing FreeNAS capabilities for enterprises and pre-installed on systems provided by iXsystems.<\/p>\n

For historical reasons, FreeNAS and TrueNAS were developed, tested, and released separately, despite a large volume of common code. A significant effort was required to unify the build systems for the distribution and packages. In version 11.3<\/a><\/noindex> , the TrueNAS code has achieved parity with FreeNAS in terms of plugin and virtual environment support, with the shared code exceeding 95%, which allowed for work to proceed on the final merging of the projects. <\/p>\n
