Le projet Chitchatter d\u00e9veloppe une application pour cr\u00e9er des chats P2P d\u00e9centralis\u00e9s, o\u00f9 les participants interagissent directement sans passer par des serveurs centralis\u00e9s. Le code est \u00e9crit en TypeScript et est distribu\u00e9 sous la licence GPLv2. Le programme se pr\u00e9sente sous la forme d'une application web fonctionnant dans un navigateur. L'application peut \u00eatre test\u00e9e sur le site de d\u00e9monstration. <\/p>\n

L'application permet de g\u00e9n\u00e9rer un identifiant unique de chat, \u00e0 transmettre \u00e0 d'autres participants pour commencer les \u00e9changes. Pour l'accord de connexion au chat, tout service public serveur<\/a>, prenant en charge le protocole WebTorrent, peut \u00eatre utilis\u00e9. Apr\u00e8s la n\u00e9gociation de la connexion, des canaux de communication chiffr\u00e9s directs sont \u00e9tablis, reliant les utilisateurs gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la technologie WebRTC, qui offre les moyens n\u00e9cessaires pour acc\u00e9der aux n\u0153uds situ\u00e9s derri\u00e8re des traducteurs d'adresses (NAT), et pour contourner les pare-feu d'entreprise \u00e0 l'aide des protocoles STUN et TURN. <\/p>\n

Le contenu des conversations n'est pas enregistr\u00e9 sur disque et est perdu apr\u00e8s la fermeture de l'application. Lors des \u00e9changes, il est possible d'utiliser la syntaxe Markdown et d'ins\u00e9rer des fichiers multim\u00e9dias. Parmi les projets futurs, on mentionne des chats prot\u00e9g\u00e9s par mot de passe, des appels vocaux et vid\u00e9o, le partage de fichiers, l'indication de la frappe et la possibilit\u00e9 de consulter les messages publi\u00e9s avant qu'un nouvel utilisateur ne se joigne au chat.
