Pour le syst\u00e8me d'exploitation open source Haiku, qui continue de d\u00e9velopper les id\u00e9es de BeOS, une couche de compatibilit\u00e9 avec Wayland a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9par\u00e9e, permettant de lancer des kits et des applications utilisant ce protocole, y compris les applications bas\u00e9es sur la biblioth\u00e8que GTK. La couche a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e par Ilya Chugin, qui travaille \u00e9galement sur le port de Haiku pour l'architecture RISC-V et l'adaptation de Wine pour Haiku. <\/p>\n

La couche fournit la biblioth\u00e8que libwayland-client.so, bas\u00e9e sur le code de libwayland et compatible au niveau de l'API et de l'ABI, ce qui permet de lancer des applications Wayland sans modifications. Contrairement aux compositeurs typiques, serveurs<\/a> Wayland, la couche ne s'ex\u00e9cute pas sous la forme d'un processus serveur distinct, mais se charge comme un plugin pour les processus clients. Au lieu de sockets, le serveur<\/a> elle utilise une boucle de traitement des messages native bas\u00e9e sur BLooper. <\/p>\n

Pour des tests, le d\u00e9p\u00f4t haikuware propose des paquets pr\u00eats \u00e0 l'emploi avec GTK3, GIMP, Inkscape, Epiphany (GNOME Web), Claws-mail, AbiWord et HandBrake.

Auparavant, un autre d\u00e9veloppeur avait d\u00e9j\u00e0 pr\u00e9par\u00e9 une impl\u00e9mentation initiale de la couche pour Haiku afin d'assurer la compatibilit\u00e9 avec la biblioth\u00e8que Xlib, permettant de lancer des applications X11 sous Haiku sans utiliser de serveur X.
