Ma\u00efra Canal de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Igalia a pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 un projet de r\u00e9\u00e9criture du pilote VGEM (Virtual GEM Provider) en langage Rust. VGEM comprend environ 400 lignes de code et propose un backend GEM (Graphics Execution Manager) non li\u00e9 au mat\u00e9riel, utilis\u00e9 pour l'acc\u00e8s partag\u00e9 aux tampons des pilotes de dispositifs 3D logiciels, tels que LLVMpipe, afin d'am\u00e9liorer les performances de la rasterisation logicielle. <\/p>\n

VGEM sera le deuxi\u00e8me pilote graphique en Rust fonctionnant au niveau du noyau (le premier \u00e9tait le pilote DRM (Direct Rendering Manager) Asahi pour les GPU Apple AGX, utilis\u00e9 dans les puces Apple M1\/M2). Le d\u00e9veloppement a n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 la cr\u00e9ation de nouveaux liaisons pour faire fonctionner le code Rust avec le mat\u00e9riel de la plateforme, le type XArray et les abstractions li\u00e9es \u00e0 l'acc\u00e8s direct \u00e0 la m\u00e9moire, telles que les barri\u00e8res DMA (DMA fence). \u00c0 l'\u00e9tape actuelle du d\u00e9veloppement, le pilote est presque pr\u00eat, il passe la plupart des tests IGT, \u00e0 l'exception de deux v\u00e9rifications (vgem_slow et vgem_basic@unload), mais n\u00e9cessite des am\u00e9liorations pour le support IOCTL.
