Cette mise \u00e0 jour est consid\u00e9r\u00e9e comme une version de test (les versions stables sont publi\u00e9es environ une fois par an, la derni\u00e8re version stable a \u00e9t\u00e9 publi\u00e9e en juin). Le projet d\u00e9veloppe une construction pr\u00eate du projet coreboot, fournissant une alternative aux firmwares propri\u00e9taires UEFI et BIOS, qui sont responsables de l'initialisation du CPU, de la m\u00e9moire, des p\u00e9riph\u00e9riques et d'autres composants mat\u00e9riels, tout en minimisant les insertions binaires.    <\/p>\n<p>Libreboot vise \u00e0 cr\u00e9er un environnement syst\u00e8me permettant de se passer de logiciels propri\u00e9taires autant que possible, non seulement au niveau du syst\u00e8me d'exploitation, mais aussi du firmware assurant le d\u00e9marrage. Libreboot compl\u00e8te Coreboot avec des moyens simplifiant son application par des utilisateurs finaux, formant une distribution pr\u00eate \u00e0 l'emploi que tout utilisateur, sans comp\u00e9tences particuli\u00e8res, peut utiliser.          <\/p>\n<p>Dans cette nouvelle version :  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Ajout du support pour les ordinateurs portables HP EliteBook 820 G2, HP Compaq Elite 8300 CMT, HP EliteBook 8460p, Dell Latitude E6530 et ThinkPad X220 eDP.\n<li class=\"l\"> Fin du support pour l'ordinateur portable ThinkPad X201.\n<li class=\"l\"> R\u00e9solution des probl\u00e8mes de mise en veille sur les ordinateurs portables ThinkPad des s\u00e9ries X200 et T400.\n<li class=\"l\"> Optimisation du syst\u00e8me de construction, visant \u00e0 r\u00e9duire la taille du code.\n<li class=\"l\"> Le chargeur de d\u00e9marrage GRUB a \u00e9t\u00e9 mis \u00e0 jour vers la version stable 2.12.\n<li class=\"l\"> Des modifications ont \u00e9t\u00e9 apport\u00e9es
