En parall\u00e8le, la version 11.5.1 de MariaDB, en statut de version candidate, est \u00e9galement disponible, et la branche 11.6 a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9e pour le d\u00e9veloppement de nouvelles fonctionnalit\u00e9s.    <\/p>\n<p>Le projet MariaDB d\u00e9veloppe une bifurcation de MySQL, pr\u00e9servant la r\u00e9trocompatibilit\u00e9 et se distinguant par l'int\u00e9gration de moteurs de stockage suppl\u00e9mentaires et de fonctionnalit\u00e9s avanc\u00e9es. Le d\u00e9veloppement de MariaDB est supervis\u00e9 par l'organisation ind\u00e9pendante MariaDB Foundation conform\u00e9ment \u00e0 un processus de d\u00e9veloppement ouvert et transparent, sans d\u00e9pendance vis-\u00e0-vis de fournisseurs individuels. MariaDB est fourni \u00e0 la place de MySQL dans de nombreuses distributions Linux (RHEL, SUSE, Fedora, openSUSE, Slackware, OpenMandriva, ROSA, Arch Linux, Debian) et est int\u00e9gr\u00e9 dans d'importants projets tels que Wikipedia, Google Cloud SQL et Nimbuzz.       <\/p>\n<p>Parmi les changements dans la branche MariaDB 11.4 par rapport \u00e0 la derni\u00e8re version LTS 10.11 :  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> L'optimiseur de requ\u00eates a \u00e9t\u00e9 significativement am\u00e9lior\u00e9, avec une nouvelle mod\u00e9lisation des co\u00fbts qui permet une pr\u00e9diction plus pr\u00e9cise des poids de chaque plan d'ex\u00e9cution. L'ancienne mod\u00e9lisation convenait bien pour la recherche d'index optimaux, mais pr\u00e9sentait des probl\u00e8mes d'applicabilit\u00e9 pour les op\u00e9rations de balayage de table, de balayage d'index ou de s\u00e9lection par plages. Dans le nouveau mod\u00e8le, ce d\u00e9faut a \u00e9t\u00e9 corrig\u00e9 en modifiant le poids de base des op\u00e9rations li\u00e9es au moteur de stockage. Par exemple, pour les op\u00e9rations de stockage telles que le balayage s\u00e9quentiel des enregistrements, on suppose d\u00e9sormais que les donn\u00e9es sont stock\u00e9es sur un disque SSD rapide.
