La soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Oracle a annonc\u00e9 la formation de paquets avec le noyau UEK-next (Next Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel), bas\u00e9 sur la version du noyau Linux 6.9. Par d\u00e9faut, au lieu du noyau de Red Hat Enterprise Linux, la distribution Oracle Linux continue d'utiliser le noyau UEK 7, qui est bas\u00e9 sur le noyau Linux 5.15, tandis que le noyau UEK-next est positionn\u00e9 comme une option continuellement mise \u00e0 jour pour les d\u00e9veloppeurs, permettant d'acc\u00e9der aux am\u00e9liorations les plus r\u00e9centes de la branche principale du noyau tout en conservant l'acc\u00e8s aux capacit\u00e9s avanc\u00e9es sp\u00e9cifiques au noyau UEK, telles que l'int\u00e9gration de DTrace et un support am\u00e9lior\u00e9 pour Btrfs, ainsi que des optimisations pour travailler avec des logiciels et du mat\u00e9riel industriels Oracle. <\/p>\n

Le noyau UEK-next est form\u00e9 en superposant des correctifs et des am\u00e9liorations sur le noyau principal de Linux, pr\u00e9par\u00e9s pour le noyau UEK. Ce noyau n'est pas destin\u00e9 \u00e0 \u00eatre utilis\u00e9 dans des d\u00e9ploiements en production, mais subit des tests de base et peut \u00eatre utilis\u00e9 pour adapter des applications et des charges de travail aux nouvelles versions du noyau principal. Apr\u00e8s un certain temps, l'un des noyaux UEK-next sera fourni avec un cycle de support \u00e0 long terme (LTS) et ce noyau sera utilis\u00e9 comme base pour former la branche UEK 8.<\/p>\n

Parmi les am\u00e9liorations sp\u00e9cifiques au noyau UEK-next 6.9, on note le support du m\u00e9canisme «sched_ext» (SCX), permettant d'utiliser eBPF pour cr\u00e9er des planificateurs CPU. Le noyau principal int\u00e9grera sched_ext au plus t\u00f4t lors de la version 6.11.
\nDans la prochaine mise \u00e0 jour de l'UEK-next, construit sur la base du noyau 6.10, il est pr\u00e9vu d'offrir la possibilit\u00e9 d'utiliser l'outil fsck pour v\u00e9rifier et corriger les probl\u00e8mes identifi\u00e9s dans le syst\u00e8me de fichiers XFS en mode online, sans d\u00e9monter le syst\u00e8me de fichiers.
