La caract\u00e9ristique distinctive du langage est que toutes les donn\u00e9es, y compris le code du programme lui-m\u00eame, peuvent \u00eatre repr\u00e9sent\u00e9es sous forme de cha\u00eenes, ce qui cr\u00e9e d'\u00e9normes possibilit\u00e9s pour la m\u00e9taprogrammation et la cr\u00e9ation d'extensions.<\/p>\n<p>La nouvelle version contient des modifications incompatibles avec les versions 8.x, c'est pourquoi il a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9cid\u00e9 d'augmenter le num\u00e9ro de version principal :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lors de la r\u00e9solution des noms, seul l'espace de noms courant est d\u00e9sormais utilis\u00e9, et non pas l'espace global ;<\/li>\n<li>Les probl\u00e8mes d'encodage dans les fonctions d'entr\u00e9e\/sortie d\u00e9clenchent d\u00e9sormais par d\u00e9faut une erreur ;<\/li>\n<li>Le tilde (~) dans les chemins de fichiers ne fait plus r\u00e9f\u00e9rence au r\u00e9pertoire personnel de l'utilisateur ;<\/li>\n<li>La variable tcl_precision n'influe plus sur le formatage des nombres.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Parmi les autres changements :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ajout d'un support pour des variables de plus de 2 gigaoctets ;<\/li>\n<li>Am\u00e9lioration du support Unicode ;<\/li>\n<li>Support de l'acc\u00e8s au contenu des fichiers ZIP comme s'il s'agissait d'un syst\u00e8me de fichiers ;<\/li>\n<li>Le multiplexage IO prend d\u00e9sormais en charge epoll (sous Linux) et kqueue (sous BSD).
