La sortie du d\u00e9mon Wi-Fi iwd 3.0 (iNet Wireless Daemon), d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 par Intel comme alternative \u00e0 l'outil wpa_supplicant pour connecter les syst\u00e8mes Linux \u00e0 un r\u00e9seau sans fil, est maintenant disponible. Iwd peut fonctionner de mani\u00e8re autonome ou servir de backend pour les configurateurs r\u00e9seau Network Manager et ConnMan. Ce projet est adapt\u00e9 \u00e0 l'utilisation sur des dispositifs embarqu\u00e9s et optimis\u00e9 pour une consommation minimale de m\u00e9moire et d'espace disque. Iwd n'utilise pas de biblioth\u00e8ques externes et s'appuie uniquement sur les capacit\u00e9s fournies par le noyau Linux. Il inclut une impl\u00e9mentation de client DHCP et un ensemble de fonctions cryptographiques. Le code du projet est \u00e9crit en C et est distribu\u00e9 sous la licence LGPLv2.1. <\/p>\n

Dans cette nouvelle version, en plus de corrections de bugs, le support du mode d'authentification externe sur les syst\u00e8mes avec des puces bas\u00e9es sur l'architecture FullMAC a \u00e9t\u00e9 ajout\u00e9. Ce dernier implique l'impl\u00e9mentation de la pile sans fil du c\u00f4t\u00e9 du firmware de la puce, plut\u00f4t que du driver syst\u00e8me. Le mode d'authentification externe (CMD_EXTERNAL_AUTH) peut \u00eatre utilis\u00e9 avec des drivers qui ne prennent pas en charge le traitement complet du protocole d'authentification SAE (Authentification simultan\u00e9e d'\u00e9gaux) du c\u00f4t\u00e9 du firmware et qui ne fournissent pas les commandes CMD_ASSOCIATE et CMD_AUTHENTICATE. Dans ce cas, le firmware peut fournir la commande CMD_EXTERNAL_AUTH pour activer un authentificateur externe pour traiter les trames SAE dans l'espace utilisateur.
