Lors de la conf\u00e9rence 38\u04413, un expos\u00e9 a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 sur l'ing\u00e9nierie inverse du firmware et du syst\u00e8me de commandes des puces TI SimpleLink (CC13XX et CC26XX) prenant en charge le BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy), ce qui a permis de r\u00e9aliser un r\u00e9cepteur FM. Les puces utilisent un DSP, et le noyau principal ARM Cortex contr\u00f4le le noyau radio (RF Core) Arm Cortex-M0, qui fournit au noyau principal une interface restreinte bas\u00e9e sur un syst\u00e8me de messagerie. La m\u00e9moire du noyau radio peut \u00eatre modifi\u00e9e \u00e0 l'aide de patches permettant de changer le comportement de la sous-syst\u00e8me radio. Le fabricant des puces propose des modules pour le support de divers protocoles sans fil, impl\u00e9ment\u00e9s \u00e0 l'aide de biblioth\u00e8ques dynamiques et de patches m\u00e9moire (similaires \u00e0 ceux utilis\u00e9s dans les puces Broadcom, actuellement d\u00e9tenues par Cypress). \u00c0 son tour, le noyau radio g\u00e8re un DSP d'une architecture sp\u00e9cifique. <\/p>\n

Les chercheurs ayant pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 le rapport ont recr\u00e9\u00e9 le format propri\u00e9taire des patches RF et ont d\u00e9montr\u00e9 comment pr\u00e9parer leurs propres patches pour ajouter le support de nouveaux protocoles sans fil (par exemple, un r\u00e9cepteur FM a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9), contr\u00f4ler la sous-syst\u00e8me sans fil et remplacer le firmware.
