Selon Satya Nadella, le directeur de Microsoft, des travaux sont actuellement en cours pour adapter la partie userspace du syst\u00e8me d'exploitation Windows \u00e0 un nouveau noyau hybride propri\u00e9taire bas\u00e9 sur le code source du noyau de l'OS FreeBSD. Ainsi, Windows 12 est le dernier syst\u00e8me d'exploitation de Microsoft \u00e0 b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier du noyau NT, d\u00e9sormais obsol\u00e8te : les prochaines versions recevront un nouveau noyau, connu sous le nom de code \u00ab Tomato \u00bb.<\/p>\n

Une des principales raisons de cette d\u00e9cision est l'augmentation des probl\u00e8mes li\u00e9s au support d'un noyau NT d\u00e9sormais obsol\u00e8te, ainsi que la mont\u00e9e en popularit\u00e9 des noyaux de type NIX dans les segments des appareils mobiles et de l'IoT.<\/p>\n

On suppose que, en plus des appels syst\u00e8mes traditionnels des syst\u00e8mes BSD, le nouveau noyau disposera \u00e9galement d'une interface alternative bas\u00e9e sur COM\/WinRPC pour interagir avec le code utilisateur. Ainsi, au lieu de simples appels syst\u00e8mes, dans un but d'unification de l'ABI, un cadre sera propos\u00e9 aux d\u00e9veloppeurs pour la s\u00e9rialisation\/d\u00e9s\u00e9rialisation des donn\u00e9es envoy\u00e9es via WinRPC, bas\u00e9 sur le Compilateur IDL de Microsoft et les travaux ant\u00e9rieurs sur la technologie COM.<\/p>\n
