Des informations sur les victimes de phishing, mises en garde r\u00e9cemment par les administrateurs du d\u00e9p\u00f4t de paquets Python PyPI (Python Package Index), ont \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9es. Suite \u00e0 l'envoi de messages demandant de confirmer leur adresse email, qui renvoyaient \u00e0 un site contrefait pypj.org (la lettre «j» au lieu de «i»), des comptes de 4 mainteneurs ont pu \u00eatre compromis. <\/p>\n

Les attaquants ont ainsi g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 deux jetons d'acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l'API et publi\u00e9 deux versions du projet num2words (0.5.15 et 0.5.16), contenant du code malveillant. Le module num2words, qui a plus de 3 millions de t\u00e9l\u00e9chargements par mois, fournit des fonctions pour convertir des nombres en leur repr\u00e9sentation textuelle. Les versions malveillantes de num2words ont \u00e9t\u00e9 supprim\u00e9es par les administrateurs de PyPI une heure apr\u00e8s leur publication. <\/p>\n

Pour contourner la protection du compte via l'authentification \u00e0 deux facteurs, les attaquants ont utilis\u00e9 un proxy transparent pour rediriger le trafic du site de phishing pypj.org vers le v\u00e9ritable site pypi.org, donnant \u00e0 l'utilisateur l'impression d'interagir avec le catalogue PyPI authentique. La page de connexion a \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 proxyfi\u00e9e et les attaquants ont contr\u00f4l\u00e9 non seulement le mot de passe initialement entr\u00e9, mais aussi la r\u00e9ponse \u00e0 la demande de v\u00e9rification du second facteur d'authentification. <\/p>\n

Pour faire face aux futures attaques via le proxy, les administrateurs de PyPI ont mis en place une protection qui v\u00e9rifie le domaine via JavaScript c\u00f4t\u00e9 client et, en cas de non-correspondance des hachages, domaines<\/a> \u00e9met un avertissement (rien n'emp\u00eache l'attaquant de filtrer ce type de script ou de remplacer le hachage de v\u00e9rification au niveau du proxy).
