Le principal d\u00e9veloppeur de XLibre, Enrico Weigelt, a propos\u00e9 la mise en \u0153uvre d'une extension Vulkan pour X11, permettant de combiner la transparence r\u00e9seau au niveau du protocole X11 avec le rendu de l'interface sur GPU avec de faibles latences. La cr\u00e9ation d'une couche interm\u00e9diaire libvulkan est envisag\u00e9e, qui s'occupera du rendu des donn\u00e9es du protocole X via le GPU c\u00f4t\u00e9 client. Ce m\u00e9canisme est propos\u00e9 comme alternative \u00e0 GLX et DRI. <\/p>\n

La proposition est encore en phase de discussion initiale ; Enrico esp\u00e8re clarifier aupr\u00e8s de la communaut\u00e9 la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de cette solution. Le projet continue actuellement de passer par une refonte majeure visant \u00e0 se d\u00e9barrasser des couches d'abstraction interm\u00e9diaires, des h\u00e9ritages des anciens standards du langage C et des solutions li\u00e9es \u00e0 Wayland.
