Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 annonc\u00e9 que dans la prochaine version d'Ubuntu 26.04 LTS, l'outil Software & Updates sera exclu de l'ensemble standard d'applications lors d'une installation propre. Chez Canonical, ils justifient cette d\u00e9cision en affirmant que de nombreuses fonctionnalit\u00e9s de l'outil sont excessivement complexes ou potentiellement dangereuses pour les utilisateurs ordinaires.<\/p>\n

La principale pr\u00e9occupation concerne la possibilit\u00e9 de d\u00e9sactiver l'acc\u00e8s aux principaux d\u00e9p\u00f4ts d'Ubuntu via l'interface graphique. Une d\u00e9sactivation accidentelle de ces sources pourrait entra\u00eener l'impossibilit\u00e9 d'installer des mises \u00e0 jour critiques du syst\u00e8me.<\/p>\n

Selon Jean-Baptiste Lallemand de Canonical, la gestion des abonnements Ubuntu Pro dans la nouvelle version de la distribution a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9plac\u00e9e vers l'application Centre de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 (Security Center), qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 mise en \u0153uvre sur la base de Snap. L'abandon de l'outil ancien, \u00e9crit en GTK3, permettra aux ing\u00e9nieurs de ne pas consacrer de ressources \u00e0 son support au cours du cycle de vie d'Ubuntu 26.04.<\/p>\n

Les changements ne concerneront que l'interface graphique. Le paquet software-properties-common, qui fournit les principaux outils de ligne de commande pour g\u00e9rer les d\u00e9p\u00f4ts et les PPA, restera dans le syst\u00e8me. Des commandes comme add-apt-repository continueront de fonctionner normalement.<\/p>\n

Les utilisateurs qui ont besoin d'une interface graphique pour g\u00e9rer les miroirs, PPA ou le comportement des mises \u00e0 jour pourront installer l'outil eux-m\u00eames. Le paquet software-properties-gtk est conserv\u00e9 dans le d\u00e9p\u00f4t principal de la version 26.04 LTS. Pour le restaurer, il suffit d'ex\u00e9cuter la commande d'installation standard via apt.<\/p>\n
