Greg Kroah-Hartman, responsable du maintien des branches stables et \u00ab staging \u00bb du noyau Linux, a annonc\u00e9 la fin de l'acceptation de patches dans la section drivers\/staging pr\u00e9par\u00e9s \u00e0 l'aide d'outils AI. Il est not\u00e9 que ces patches g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9s automatiquement vont \u00e0 l'encontre de l'id\u00e9e principale d'utiliser la sous-syst\u00e8me drivers\/staging comme un terrain d'apprentissage pour les nouveaux d\u00e9veloppeurs du noyau. Le code dans drivers\/staging est initialement positionn\u00e9 comme probl\u00e9matique (TAINT_CRAP) et ceux qui l'accompagnent ne m\u00e8nent intentionnellement pas de nettoyage automatis\u00e9, afin de permettre aux d\u00e9veloppeurs d\u00e9butants de d\u00e9velopper leurs comp\u00e9tences dans la r\u00e9solution autonome de petits probl\u00e8mes dans le noyau. <\/p>\n

Une exception est faite uniquement pour les patches cr\u00e9\u00e9s avec l'aide d'IA qui corrigent de r\u00e9els probl\u00e8mes de s\u00e9curit\u00e9. Ces corrections dans les pilotes doivent \u00eatre test\u00e9es sur du mat\u00e9riel r\u00e9el et accompagn\u00e9es d'un rapport de test. L'auteur ayant soumis le patch doit \u00eatre capable de prouver que la correction est correcte. Une v\u00e9rification manuelle est n\u00e9cessaire, car selon Greg, environ un tiers des corrections de probl\u00e8mes potentiels de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9es par des mod\u00e8les d'IA, m\u00eame les plus modernes, sont incorrectes ou entra\u00eenent des probl\u00e8mes.
