Le d\u00e9veloppement se fait \u00e0 partir de z\u00e9ro, par pur int\u00e9r\u00eat, sans se baser sur le code d'autres OS existants. Les auteurs se sont fix\u00e9s l'objectif d'amener SerenityOS \u00e0 un niveau utilisable au quotidien, tout en pr\u00e9servant l'esth\u00e9tique des syst\u00e8mes des ann\u00e9es 90, mais en y ajoutant des id\u00e9es pratiques des syst\u00e8mes modernes pour les utilisateurs exp\u00e9riment\u00e9s. Le code est \u00e9crit en C++ et <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/SerenityOS\/serenity\">est fourni<\/a><\/noindex> sous licence BSD. <\/p>\n<p>Le projet est un bon exemple de ce qui peut \u00eatre accompli en se fixant un objectif pr\u00e9cis et en avan\u00e7ant jour apr\u00e8s jour <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/SerenityOS\/serenity\/commits\/master\">en progressant<\/a><\/noindex> en tant que hobby, il est possible de cr\u00e9er un syst\u00e8me d'exploitation totalement fonctionnel et d'attirer <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/SerenityOS\/serenity\/graphs\/contributors\">des personnes partageant les m\u00eames id\u00e9es<\/a><\/noindex>.
