L'outil permet de suivre et (\u00e0 partir de la version 4.15) d'intervenir dans le processus d'interaction entre le programme et le noyau, y compris les appels syst\u00e8me, les signaux \u00e9mis et les changements d'\u00e9tat du processus. Pour sa fonctionnement, strace utilise le m\u00e9canisme <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/man7.org\/linux\/man-pages\/man2\/ptrace.2.html\">ptrace<\/a><\/noindex>. \u00c0 partir de la version 4.13, la synchronisation des versions du programme est coordonn\u00e9e avec la sortie des nouvelles versions de Linux. Le code du projet <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/gitlab.com\/strace\/strace\">est distribu\u00e9<\/a><\/noindex> sous la licence LGPLv2.1+.<\/p>\n<p>Dans <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\"
