Guile peut \u00eatre utilis\u00e9 comme langage pour le d\u00e9veloppement d'extensions d'applications, la d\u00e9finition de configurations ou le d\u00e9veloppement de composants pour relier diff\u00e9rents primitifs fournis par l'application. Guile est le langage officiel de d\u00e9veloppement d'extensions pour le syst\u00e8me d'exploitation GNU. <\/p>\n<p>La base de Guile repose sur une machine virtuelle efficace, qui ex\u00e9cute un ensemble d'instructions portables, g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9es par un compilateur optimisateur sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9. La machine virtuelle Guile s'int\u00e8gre facilement avec le code des applications \u00e9crites en C et C++. En plus du langage Scheme, pour lequel le support des sp\u00e9cifications a \u00e9t\u00e9 mis en \u0153uvre <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.schemers.org\/Documents\/Standards\/R5RS\/\">R5RS<\/a><\/noindex>, <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.r6rs.org\/\">R6RS<\/a><\/noindex> et <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/small.r7rs.org\/\">R7RS<\/a><\/noindex>, dans le cadre du projet Guile, des compilateurs ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9velopp\u00e9s pour d'autres langages, tels que ECMAScript, Emacs Lisp et Lua (en cours de d\u00e9veloppement). Le package comprend une biblioth\u00e8que de modules, qui impl\u00e9mente des fonctions de service standard, telles que l'utilisation du protocole HTTP, le parsing XML et l'application de m\u00e9thodes de programmation orient\u00e9e objet.<\/p>\n<p>La principale innovation de GNU Guile 3.0 est l'introduction d'un compilateur JIT, en plus de l'interpr\u00e9teur et du compilateur vers le bytecode pr\u00e9c\u00e9demment propos\u00e9s, ex\u00e9cut\u00e9 dans une machine virtuelle sp\u00e9ciale, int\u00e9gr\u00e9e \u00e0 l'application sous forme de biblioth\u00e8que. Le JIT permet de g\u00e9n\u00e9rer du code machine \u00e0 la vol\u00e9e et accel\u00e8re consid\u00e9rablement l'ex\u00e9cution des applications Guile (des tests montrent une augmentation de performance allant jusqu'\u00e0 4 fois).
