Suite \u00e0 GitHub et Bitbucket, les d\u00e9veloppeurs de la plateforme de collaboration GitLab ont annonc\u00e9 qu'ils cessaient d'utiliser par d\u00e9faut le mot \u00ab master \u00bb pour les branches principales au profit du mot \u00ab main \u00bb. Le terme \u00ab master \u00bb est de plus en plus consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme politiquement incorrect, rappelant l'esclavage et per\u00e7u par certains membres de la communaut\u00e9 comme une insulte. <\/p>\n

Le changement sera effectu\u00e9 tant sur le service GitLab.com que lors de la mise \u00e0 jour de la plateforme GitLab pour un usage local. Le nouveau nom sera appliqu\u00e9 lors de la cr\u00e9ation de nouveaux projets. Dans la version GitLab 13.11, pr\u00e9vue pour le 22 avril, un drapeau optionnel pour remplacer le nom de la branche principale sera introduit, mais par d\u00e9faut, les nouveaux projets continueront d'utiliser le nom master. Dans la version GitLab 14.0, attendue pour le 22 mai, tous les nouveaux projets utiliseront par d\u00e9faut le nom main. <\/p>\n

En cas de mise \u00e0 jour des syst\u00e8mes existants vers GitLab 14.0, les nouveaux projets cr\u00e9\u00e9s via l'interface web utiliseront \u00e9galement par d\u00e9faut le nom main. En cas d'utilisation de syst\u00e8mes d'int\u00e9gration continue, il pourrait \u00eatre n\u00e9cessaire de modifier les scripts et les param\u00e8tres des liens fig\u00e9s vers master. Les utilisateurs pourront restaurer le nom master via un param\u00e8tre correspondant au nom de la branche par d\u00e9faut.
