Na preuzimanje su dostupne tri verzije iso slika: bootable (650 MB), minimalna (1.6 GB) i puna (7 GB).    <\/p>\n<p>Distro je potpuno binarno kompatibilan s Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4 i mo\u017ee se koristiti kao transparentna zamjena za CentOS 8. Promjene se svode na rebranding, uklanjanje specifi\u010dnih RHEL paketa, kao \u0161to su redhat-*, insights-client i subscription-manager-migration*, te kreiranje repozitorija \u00abdevel\u00bb s dodatnim paketima i zavisnostima za izgradnju. Uklju\u010deni su novi moduli s Python 3.9, SWIG 4.0, Subversion 1.14, Redis 6, PostgreSQL 13 i MariaDB 10.5. A\u017eurirane su verzije GCC Toolset 10, LLVM Toolset 11.0.0, Rust Toolset 1.49.0 i Go Toolset 1.15.7.    <\/p>\n<p>Podsjetimo, distribucija AlmaLinux je osnovana od strane tvrtke CloudLinux kao odgovor na prerano ukidanje podr\u0161ke za CentOS 8 od strane Red Hata (izdavanje a\u017euriranja za CentOS 8 odlu\u010deno je prekinuti krajem 2021. godine, a ne 2029. godine, kako su korisnici pretpostavljali). Projekt nadzire neprofitna organizacija AlmaLinux OS Foundation, koja je osnovana za razvoj na neutralnoj platformi uz sudjelovanje zajednice i kori\u0161tenje modela upravljanja sli\u010dnog projektu Fedora. Distribucija je besplatna za sve kategorije korisnika. Svi razvojni radovi AlmaLinux objavljuju se pod slobodnim licencama.     <\/p>\n<p>Osim AlmaLinuxa, kao alternativa klasi\u010dnom CentOS 8 pozicioniraju se VzLinux (pripremljen od strane Virtuozzo), Rocky Linux (razvijen od strane zajednice pod vodstvom osniva\u010da CentOS-a uz podr\u0161ku specijalno osnovane tvrtke Ctrl IQ) i Oracle Linux. Tako\u0111er, kompanija Red Hat pru\u017eila je mogu\u0107nost besplatnog kori\u0161tenja RHEL-a u organizacijama koje razvijaju otvoreni softver i u okru\u017eenjima individualnih razvijatelja koji
