Projekt uutils coreutils razvija cross-platformsku alternativu GNU Coreutils paketu, napisanu u Rust programskom jeziku, distribuiranu pod permisivnom MIT licencom (umjesto copyleft GPL licence) i sposobnu za rad ne samo na Linuxu.<\/p>\n<p>Na kraju je uspjelo prilagoditi uutils za rad s Portage. Za one koji \u017eele nastaviti eksperimente pripremljen je repozitorij koji sadr\u017ei Gentoo stage 3 varijantu s potrebnim izmjenama za kori\u0161tenje uutils, pogodnom za pokretanje u chroot okru\u017eenju. Od napravljenih izmjena, isti\u010de se:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Isklju\u010divanje gradnje alata koji dolaze izvan coreutils paketa (more, hostname, kill, uptime, groups) i koji su u sukobu s drugim paketima (util-linux, net-tools, procps, shadow).\n<li class=\"l\"> Uklanjanje prefiksa \u201euu-\u201d iz naredbi.\n<li class=\"l\"> Izrada omota za nedostaju\u0107e alate (na primjer,<br \/>\nmd5sum i sha256sum implementirani su putem poziva \u201ecksum -a md5\/sha256 \u2014untagged\u201d).<\/p>\n<li class=\"l\"> Instalacija u obliku odvojenih izvr\u0161nih datoteka umjesto jedne izvr\u0161ne datoteke i simboli\u010dkih linkova na nju (alat emerge poziva izvr\u0161nu datoteku install-xattr, koja razotkriva simboli\u010dke linkove prije pokretanja, zbog \u010dega
