IPFire se odlikuje izuzetno jednostavnim postupkom instalacije i organizacijom postavki putem intuitivnog web su\u010delja, bogatog vizualnim grafikama. Veli\u010dina instalacijskog <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/downloads.ipfire.org\/release\/ipfire-2.23-core131\">iso slike<\/a><\/noindex> iznosi 256 MB (x86_64, i586, ARM).<\/p>\n<p>Sustav je modularan, osim osnovnih funkcija filtarskog paketa i upravljanja prometom, za IPFire su dostupni moduli za implementaciju sustava prevencije napada temeljenih na Suricati, za izradu datote\u010dnog poslu\u017eitelja (Samba, FTP, NFS), poslu\u017eitelja e-po\u0161te (Cyrus-IMAPd, Postfix, Spamassassin, ClamAV i Openmailadmin) i poslu\u017eitelja za ispis (CUPS), organizaciju VoIP gateway-a temeljenog na Asterisku i Teamspeaku, izradu be\u017ei\u010dne pristupne to\u010dke, organiziranje streaminga audio i video poslu\u017eitelja (MPFire, Videolan, Icecast, Gnump3d, VDR). Za instalaciju dodataka u IPFire koristi se posebni upravitelj paketa Pakfire. <\/p>\n<p>U novom izdanju:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Predstavljen je novi sustav za prevenciju provale (IPS) koji podr\u017eava re\u017eim dubinske inspekcije mre\u017enih paketa i omogu\u0107ava identifikaciju mogu\u0107ih prijetnji. Sustav se temelji na radovima projekta  <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=49566\">Suricata<\/a><\/noindex> i od ranije ponu\u0111enog IPS-a temeljenog na Snortu odlikuje se vi\u0161om u\u010dinkovito\u0161\u0107u i sigurno\u0161\u0107u. Stare postavke IPS-a automatski \u0107e biti konvertirane nakon a\u017euriranja IPFire, ali prema zadanim postavkama nakon migracije IPS se pokre\u0107e u re\u017eimu nadzora i zahtijeva ru\u010dne promjene postavki za prijelaz u re\u017eim filtriranja paketa.
