Probléma a NTFS3 modul támogatásának hiányával a Linux kernelben

A Linux kernel developers mailing list notes issues with the support of the new NTFS file system implementation, opened by Paragon Software and included in Linux kernel 5.15. One of the conditions for adding the new NTFS code to the kernel was to ensure further support for the code as part of the kernel, but since November 24 of last year, any activity in the development of the open codebase NTFS3 has ceased, the assigned maintainer has not been in touch, bug reports are being ignored, and submitted patches are not being considered for inclusion.

There is also a specific attitude of the NTFS3 maintainers towards the submitted patches up to the loss of contact — patches were either silently applied to the codebase without prior review or ignored without any explanation. Attempts by a developer interested in the development of NTFS3 to discuss the situation in private correspondence, as well as offers to help with maintenance and take on some responsibilities, went unanswered. The intentions of the head of Paragon Software to open additional tools for NTFS also remain just promises for now.

As for further actions in the situation, if support is not restored, it is proposed to move NTFS3 to the category of orphaned and remove the driver from the kernel to avoid creating an illusion of support for NTFS, while actually delivering a still-raw, unsupported implementation with unresolved bugs.
