A LXQt 2.3.0 (Qt Lightweight Desktop Environment) desktop environment has been released after 6 months of development, continuing the development of the LXDE and Razor-qt projects. The LXQt interface follows the ideas of classic desktop organization but introduces modern design and techniques that enhance usability. LXQt is positioned as a lightweight, modular, fast, and user-friendly environment, incorporating the best features of LXDE and Razor-qt. The code is available on GitHub and is licensed under GPL 2.0+ and LGPL 2.1+. Ready builds are expected for Ubuntu (LXQt is offered by default in Lubuntu), Arch Linux, Fedora, openSUSE, Mageia, FreeBSD, ROSA, and ALT Linux.

- Improved support for the Wayland protocol. The lxqt-wayland-session component, which allows LXQt to run alongside various Wayland compositors (LabWC, WayFire, kwin_wayland, Sway, Hyprland, River, and Niri), has added a lxqt-qdbus handler that provides a universal wrapper over various qdbus commands, independent of the compositor. Automatically launched applications are now placed in the correct categories. The global scaling level can now only be set for X11, while in Wayland, the scaling level should be adjusted using the capabilities of compositors or external utilities, such as kanshi.
- In environments based on Wayland, the interface for switching between virtual desktops has been implemented in the panel when using compositors, szerverek, supporting the ext-workspaces-v1 protocol, such as Labwc and Niri.
- A new backend based on IPC has been added to the panel to work over the Wayfire compositor (in terms of supported operations with the panel, Wayfire now ranks just behind KWin-Wayland).
- In the panel plugin 'Custom Command', support for structured output that works with Wayland and X11 has been implemented, along with the ability to update content while the output from the running command continues.
- The ability to activate the 'Show Desktop' plugin through drag & drop operations has been implemented in the panel. In the backlight control plugin, the brightness can now be adjusted by rotating the mouse wheel. The Fancy Menu and Main Menu now support sorting items considering locale.
- In the screenshot creation utility ScreenGrab, the ability to work in Wayland environments with compositing has been added. szerverek, amelyek támogatják a «wlr_screencopy» protokollt. Az X11 alapú környezetekben javították a kijelölés színkódját a választott terület körüli keret kiemelésében.

- A Power Management menedzserhez került egy új opció, amely lehetővé teszi a monitor kikapcsolását Wayland-alapú környezetekben (támogatott kompozitorok: KWin, niri és Hyprland).
- Az LXQt Archiver archívumkezelő programhoz hozzáadták az LZ4 tömörítési algoritmus támogatását.
- Elindult a projekt új wiki-webhelye egy fejlettebb keresőrendszerrel (a régi wikioldalak tartalma megmaradt).
