December 12 saw the release of QtCreator version 4.11.
Since QtCreator has a modular architecture, and all functionality is provided by plugins (the Core plugin is mandatory). Below are the innovations in the plugins.
Projects
- Test support for Qt on WebAssembly and microcontrollers.
- Multiple improvements in the configuration and project build subsystems.
- Using the file API from CMake 3.14 for configuring and launching projects. This innovation makes the behavior more reliable and predictable (compared to the previous 'server' mode). Especially when CMake is also used externally (e.g., from the console).
Editing
- Explicitly defined colors from KSyntaxHighlighting are no longer ignored
- Configuration of the language server for Python has been significantly simplified
- The line ending style can also be changed from the editor component's toolbar
- Editing QML 'bindings' directly from Qt Quick Designer
