A projekt keretein belül an attempt has been made to create a variant of Debian GNU/Linux for mobile devices. The builds use the standard Debian package base, a set of GNOME applications, and a user interface shell , developed by Purism for the Librem 5 smartphone. Phosh is based on GNOME technologies (GTK, GSettings, DBus) and uses a composite server , working on top of Wayland. Mobian is currently limited to preparation only for smartphones , distributed by the Pine64 community.
Applications
include the Eye of Gnome image viewer, the GNOME ToDo note-taking system, the interface for configuring GSM/CDMA/UMTS/EVDO/LTE modems ModemManager, the GNOME Contacts address book, the GNOME Sound Recorder audio recording program, the GNOME Control Center configurator, the Evince document viewer, the GEdit text editor, the GNOME Software application installation manager, the GNOME Usage monitoring program, the Geary email client,
the Fractal messenger (based on the Matrix protocol), the call management interface (uses the phone stack ). Plans include adding an MPD Client, programs for working with maps, a Spotify client, an audiobook listening program, night mode, and the ability to encrypt data on storage.
Applications are compiled with patches from the Purism project aimed at improving the interface on small screens. In particular, the Purism project is developing a library with a set of widgets and objects for creating user interfaces. The library includes 29 widgets covering various standard interface elements such as lists, panels, editing blocks, buttons, tabs, search forms, dialog boxes, etc. The proposed widgets allow for the creation of universal interfaces that function seamlessly on both large PC and laptop screens and small touchscreen smartphone screens. The application interface dynamically changes based on screen size and available input devices. The main goal of the project is to provide the ability to work with the same GNOME applications on smartphones and PCs.
