A Red Hat tovább bővítette a Red Hat Enterprise Linux ingyenes használati programját, hogy kielégítse a felhasználók igényeit a hagyományos CentOS iránt, amelyek a CentOS projekt CentOS Stream-re való átalakulása után merültek fel. Az eddig megadott ingyenes kiadásokhoz a termelési környezetek számára, legfeljebb 16 rendszerig, bemutatásra került egy új lehetőség, a „Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) for Open Source Infrastructure”, amely lehetővé teszi a RHEL korlátlan, ingyenes használatát nyílt forráskódú projektek fejlesztői közösségei és a nyílt szoftverfejlesztést támogató szervezetek infrastruktúrájában.
E külön program particularly aims at organizations and projects engaged in developing and hosting software distributed under open source licenses approved for inclusion in the Fedora Linux repositories. The free use of RHEL in such organizations is allowed in infrastructure components such as build systems, continuous integration systems, mail and web servers. Program participants also get access to the Red Hat portal with documentation, knowledge base, forums, and the Red Hat Insights analytics system. While formal support services are not covered for participants of the „RHEL for Open Source Infrastructure” program, depending on the project's importance, Red Hat does not rule out the possibility of providing free technical support.
The presented program is currently limited to organizations and does not include individual developers, current Red Hat partners, clients, government organizations, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations wishing to use RHEL in areas not related to maintaining infrastructure for open source software development. Access to participate in the „RHEL for Open Source Infrastructure” program is granted based on applications submitted to the email „rosi-program@redhat.com”. Individual developers can obtain the opportunity for a free RHEL installation through the already existing „Red Hat Developer” program. Further programs are planned to address the needs stemming from the traditional CentOS, particularly similar programs will be introduced for non-profit organizations not related to open source and educational institutions.
