A Biostar product manager, Vicky Wang, gave an interview to the Korean publication Brainbox, where she discussed the upcoming motherboards of the company with new AMD and Intel chipsets. Interestingly, shortly after the publication of the interview, Biostar stated that the information was incorrect but did not specify which part was wrong. Additionally, Brainbox removed parts of the interview about the future motherboards, but Tom's Hardware had already prepared their material on the subject. Nonetheless, we will provisionally consider the information presented below as 'rumors.'
The Biostar manager stated that we can expect new motherboards with AMD and Intel chipsets in the foreseeable future. Moreover, it was noted that motherboards based on the much-anticipated AMD B550 chipset are already fully ready for market release.
Unfortunately, no specific date for the launch of motherboards based on the new mid-range AMD chipset has been mentioned. However, back in the summer, DigiTimes reported that the production of motherboards on AMD B550, as well as on the lower-end AMD A520 chipset, should begin already . So the new products should appear on the shelves either by the end of the current year or early next year.
As for the new Intel 400 series chipsets, which are intended for the upcoming Comet Lake-S desktop processors, motherboards based on them are expected to be available next year. This coincides with a recent leak stating that the 14nm processors are expected to launch in the first half of 2020. The Biostar manager mentions that motherboards based on three chipsets are in preparation. Most likely, these will be the flagship Intel Z490, the mid-range Intel B460, and the lower-end Intel H410. However, they do not seem to be coming very soon.
