Az EFF szervezet a HTTPS Everywhere projektet elavulttá nyilvánította

A Nonprofit Human Rights Organization, the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), has announced its decision to categorize the HTTPS Everywhere browser extension as obsolete. The HTTPS Everywhere extension was available for all popular browsers and allowed the use of HTTPS on all websites where possible, addressing the issue of sites that, by default, offered unencrypted access but supported HTTPS, as well as resources using links from secure areas to unencrypted pages.

At the end of this year, development of the extension will cease, but to ease the process of phasing out HTTPS Everywhere, the project will be maintained throughout 2022, allowing for updates to be released if serious issues arise. The reason for discontinuing HTTPS Everywhere is the emergence of built-in options in browsers to automatically redirect to HTTPS when accessing a site via HTTP. Specifically, starting with Firefox 76, Chrome 94, Edge 92, and Safari 15, browsers support the HTTPS Only mode.
