A Postgres Professional, the developer of the Postgres Pro DBMS, has released an update for the pg_probackup utility – an application for backing up and restoring database clusters. The new version 2.8.2 includes several important changes:
- fixed a parsing error for oid, which prevented databases and tablespaces with relfilenode greater than one billion from being backed up;
- fixed a log inclusion error in pg_probackup using the –log-level-file parameter, where the configured parameter value was written to the configuration file, but the log file directory was not created.
pg_probackup – a built-in application of the Postgres Pro Enterprise DBMS. The utility stands out for its highest backup speed among other backup solutions for the PostgreSQL DBMS and its forks, thanks to creating incremental backups at the page level.
Fontos! Users who have utilized pg_probackup versions 2.8.0 or 2.8.1 and earlier to create backups need to upgrade the utility to version 2.8.2 or higher, after which they should create a new full backup, as backups created based on versions 2.8.0, 2.8.1 may be incorrect.
