A Pale Moon projekt befejezte a Mypal böngésző fejlesztését.

A Mypal web browser, a fork of Pale Moon for the Windows XP platform, which was created after the support for this OS was discontinued with the release of Pale Moon 27.0, has announced the cessation of the project's further development at the request of the Pale Moon developers.

The main complaint from the Pale Moon developers was that Feodor2, the developer of Mypal, did not attach the source codes to the specific release published as an executable file, suggesting that users look for the code of the timeframe when the release was made in the GitHub repository, thereby allegedly violating the terms of the Mozilla Public License, according to the Pale Moon developers. Since such an incident had already been pointed out in 2019, the license is revoked immediately and this time Feodor2 cannot take advantage of the 30-day period for remedying violations provided in the MPL.

The MPL license explicitly states that for an executable form of the product, information must be provided on how and where to obtain a copy of the source code form. The Pale Moon developers insist that publishing a link to the master branch in a continuously updated repository is not equivalent to providing a version of the product in source texts, as required by the MPL license.

The supporters of Mypal argue that the accusations from Pale Moon are based on a misinterpretation of the MPL license, which is not violated, since the code changes are actually provided in the repository and the license requirements for opening the code of arbitrary work are met. Moreover, the author of Mypal took note of the comment and a few days ago organized the tagging of releases for their identification in the repository (earlier, the builds were formed as snapshots of a continuously updated repository).

It is also noteworthy that the cessation of Mypal's development is the culmination of a long-standing conflict between the project's author and M. Tobin, one of the main developers of Pale Moon. Last year, M. Tobin managed to block Mypal fork users' access to the 'addons.palemoon.org' add-ons directory due to dissatisfaction that the fork's developers were parasitizing on Pale Moon's infrastructure and using the project's resources without permission, without attempting to negotiate and find a mutually beneficial cooperation option.
