A Xiaomi Mi Box S Android TV box was introduced back in the fourth quarter of 2018. The device received an updated design and a new remote, although the internal hardware remains the same as its predecessor. Now, Xiaomi has updated the box, originally released with Android 8.1 TV to Android 9 Pie.
The update size is just over 600 MB and includes numerous bug fixes present in the previous version of the software. In the new firmware, the issue that caused the Chromecast function to malfunction has been corrected, the freezing during content playback in some applications has been resolved, an error with H.264 decoding has been fixed, and the audio and video sync issues while audio is played on Bluetooth devices have been eliminated. Additionally, HDMI compatibility issues and many other bugs from previous software versions have been addressed.
Unfortunately, the firmware cannot be installed on the original Xiaomi Mi Box, even though both devices share the same hardware platform.
