A Disk Cleanup utility was part of all versions of Windows, and it is a useful tool integrated into the OS. It allows users to remove temporary files, old and cached data without manual cleaning or third-party programs. However, in Windows 10, a more modern version called Storage Sense was introduced, which solves the same problem more flexibly. It has complemented Disk Cleanup.

Storage Sense appeared in build 1809, but in the current insider version of the operating system, the utility has undergone some significant changes. The previous version of Storage Sense could delete files from the 'Downloads' folder. In build number 19018, users can now choose to disable the cleaning of the 'Downloads' folder, which is set as the default in the settings.
The change log confirms this. And although it seems like a minor improvement at first glance, it is encouraging that the company from Redmond tries to take user feedback into account. One can hope that the corporation will act similarly with other requests. For instance, updates for 'File Explorer' would be welcome.
It should be noted that the next update, codenamed 19H2, will be delivered to consumers on November 12, while the patch numbered 20H1 will be available early next year.
