Matthew Kosarek, a developer from Canonical, proposed the creation of official Fedora Linux Spin builds with a user environment based on the Miracle window manager, which uses the Wayland protocol and components for building compositing managers Mir. The Fedora Spin edition with Miracle is planned to be available starting with the release of Fedora Linux 41. The proposal has not yet been reviewed by the FESCo (Fedora Engineering Steering Committee), which is responsible for the technical aspects of Fedora's distribution development.
The aim of creating the new build is to develop a functional and elegant user environment with a tiling window layout in the style of the i3 window manager and a more vibrant visual design with effects. An advantage of creating the new Fedora build is the emergence of a high-quality environment based on Wayland, which can be used on a wide range of devices, including low-power devices with ARM and x86 architecture processors.
