A Firefoxban hozzáadva a kijelölt szövegrészek gépi fordításának támogatása

A Firefox nightly build, which will serve as the basis for the release of Firefox 126 on May 14, has introduced the ability for automated machine translation of text fragments selected on the page (previously, only full page translation was supported). The translation feature is accessed through the context menu that appears when right-clicking on the selected text block. To activate fragment translation, a setting has been added in about:config called browser.translations.select.enable, which is disabled by default.

In addition, the nightly builds now support translation into Russian, Ukrainian, and Estonian, which can only be used as source languages for translation in stable builds. The translation utilizes the built-in translation system in Firefox that performs translations on the user's local system without referring to external cloud services. This system is based on the open Bergamot engine, which is a wrapper over the Marian machine translation framework, using a recurrent neural network (RNN) and transformer-based language models.
