A 'temporary-audacity' (now tenacity) fork founder announced his resignation as maintainer due to harassment during the voting process for the project's name. Users in the /g/ section on the 4chan forum forced the name choice Sneedacity, where 'sneed' is a reference to the meme 'Sneed's Feed & Seed'. The fork's author rejected this name, called for a new vote, and confirmed the name 'tenacity'.

Supporters of the name Sneedacity were outraged by this decision, created a new fork, and attempted to publish the package in the AUR repository of Arch Linux, but the AUR repository was deleted due to a complaint that the name Sneedacity encodes the medical term 'Special needs' and offends mentally challenged individuals. A call was also published to file complaints against the Sneedacity repository on GitHub for inciting hatred, violence, and harassment (supporters of the name Sneedacity believe this was an attempt to combat the competing project).

Following this, discussions about the identity of the creator of the 'temporary-audacity' fork began on the 4chan forum and how to respond to have his GitHub account removed or discredit him (for example, it was discovered that he does not program in C but develops in JavaScript, yet created a fork of the project in C). The author of 'temporary-audacity' was subjected to a wave of trolling, slander, and insults, culminating in him having to call the police because unknown adversaries tracked down his home address and threatened physical violence (according to the fork's author, he was stabbed in the arm in front of three witnesses, but the discussion on the 4chan forum regards this as a fabrication).
Forrás: opennet.ru
