Hivatkoz\u00e1si hardverplatformk\u00e9nt a Raspberry Pi 4 alaplapok szolg\u00e1lnak. A platform a nyilv\u00e1nos t\u00e1rol\u00f3ban fejl\u0151dik, az Apache 2.0 licensz alatt, a fejleszt\u00e9st pedig a k\u00f6z\u00f6ss\u00e9g ir\u00e1ny\u00edtja, tartva magukat a k\u00f6z\u00f6s fejleszt\u00e9si modellhez.       <\/p>\n<p>A webOS platformot eredetileg a Palm c\u00e9g fejlesztette ki 2008-ban, \u00e9s a Palm Pre \u00e9s Pixie okostelefonokon haszn\u00e1lt\u00e1k. 2010-ben, miut\u00e1n a Palm c\u00e9get megv\u00e1s\u00e1rolta a Hewlett-Packard, a platform \u00e1tker\u00fclt a HP kez\u00e9be, amely megpr\u00f3b\u00e1lta alkalmazni ezt a platformot nyomtat\u00f3iban, t\u00e1blag\u00e9peiben, laptopjaiban \u00e9s PC-iben. 2012-ben a HP bejelentette, hogy a webOS-t f\u00fcggetlen ny\u00edlt projektt\u00e9 alak\u00edtja, majd 2013-ban megkezdte a komponensei forr\u00e1sk\u00f3dj\u00e1nak k\u00f6zz\u00e9t\u00e9tel\u00e9t. 2013-ban a platformot a Hewlett-Packard-t\u00f3l megv\u00e1s\u00e1rolta az LG, \u00e9s most m\u00e1r t\u00f6bb mint 70 milli\u00f3 LG telev\u00edzi\u00f3ban \u00e9s fogyaszt\u00f3i eszk\u00f6zben haszn\u00e1lj\u00e1k. 2018-ban megalakult a webOS Open Source Edition projekt, amelyen kereszt\u00fcl az LG megpr\u00f3b\u00e1lt visszat\u00e9rni a ny\u00edlt fejleszt\u00e9si modellhez, m\u00e1s r\u00e9sztvev\u0151ket vonzani \u00e9s b\u0151v\u00edteni a webOS \u00e1ltal t\u00e1mogatott eszk\u00f6z\u00f6k k\u00f6r\u00e9t.    <\/p>\n<p>A webOS rendszerm\u0171k\u00f6d\u00e9se az OpenEmbedded eszk\u00f6zk\u00e9szlet\u00e9nek \u00e9s alapcsomagjainak felhaszn\u00e1l\u00e1s\u00e1val, valamint a Yocto projekt \u00e9p\u00edt\u00e9si rendszer\u00e9vel \u00e9s metainform\u00e1ci\u00f3s k\u00e9szlet\u00e9vel van kialak\u00edtva. A webOS kulcsfontoss\u00e1g\u00fa komponensei a rendszer- \u00e9s alkalmaz\u00e1skezel\u0151 (SAM, System and Application Manager), amely a szolg\u00e1ltat\u00e1sok \u00e9s alkalmaz\u00e1sok v\u00e9grehajt\u00e1s\u00e1\u00e9rt felel\u0151s, \u00e9s a Luna Surface Manager (LSM), amely a felhaszn\u00e1l\u00f3i fel\u00fcletet alak\u00edtja ki. A komponensek a Qt keretrendszert \u00e9s a Chromium b\u00f6ng\u00e9sz\u0151motorj\u00e1t haszn\u00e1lva k\u00e9sz\u00fcltek.      <\/p>\n<p>A renderel\u00e9s a Wayland protokollt haszn\u00e1l\u00f3 kompozit kezel\u0151n kereszt\u00fcl t\u00f6rt\u00e9nik. A felhaszn\u00e1l\u00f3i alkalmaz\u00e1sok fejleszt\u00e9s\u00e9hez webes technol\u00f3gi\u00e1k (CSS, HTML5 \u00e9s JavaScript) \u00e9s a React alap\u00fa Enact keretrendszer haszn\u00e1lata aj\u00e1nlott, de lehets\u00e9ges programok k\u00e9sz\u00edt\u00e9se C \u00e9s C++ nyelven is, Qt alap\u00fa interf\u00e9sszel. A felhaszn\u00e1l\u00f3i fel\u00fclet \u00e9s az integr\u00e1lt grafikus alkalmaz\u00e1sok t\u00f6bbs\u00e9ge nat\u00edv programk\u00e9nt van megval\u00f3s\u00edtva, amelyek QML technol\u00f3gia haszn\u00e1lat\u00e1val k\u00e9sz\u00fcltek.
