A xfwm4 window manager variant, adapted for use with the Wayland protocol and translated to the Meson build system, is being developed by an independent enthusiast within the xfwm4-wayland project. Wayland support in xfwm4-wayland is ensured through integration with the wlroots library, developed by the creators of the Sway desktop environment and providing the basic functions needed for organizing the operation of a compositor based on Wayland. Xfwm4 is used in the Xfce desktop environment for displaying, decorating, and transforming windows. <\/p>\n

The developer has not yet decided whether to continue developing the port independently or as part of Xfce.
