A Linux kernel patch version nine has been proposed with components for developing device drivers in Rust language. The new version is a stripped-down variant of the eighth release published a few days ago. The set is characterized by a significant reduction in size, retaining only the essential minimum sufficient for compiling a kernel module written in Rust. <\/p>\n
It is expected that the minimal patch will simplify the adoption of Rust support into the main kernel. After establishing minimal support, the plan is to gradually expand the existing functionality by porting other changes from the Rust-for-Linux branch. <\/p>\n
