A BlenderGPT plugin has been created for the 3D modeling system, allowing content generation based on tasks defined in natural language. The command input interface is designed as an additional tab labeled «GPT-4 Assistant» in the sidebar of the 3D View, where arbitrary instructions can be entered (for example, «create 100 cubes in random locations», «take the existing cubes and make them different sizes») and receive immediate results. The code is written in Python, consists of just over 300 lines, and is distributed under the MIT license. <\/p>\n
The principle of operation involves sending a test request to the ChatGPT chatbot, which uses the GPT-4 model, via the public OpenAI API, adding a note to the user-provided text: «Can you please write Blender code for me that accomplishes the following task». Then, Python code is extracted from the response and executed as a script in Blender. Access to the OpenAI API key is required (specified in the add-on options menu). The generated code can be tracked through the console (Window > Toggle System Console).
