A mount utility and the libmount library have added support for the new Linux kernel API for managing file system mounting with consideration for mount namespace. In the new API, instead of the common mount() function, separate functions are used to handle different stages of mounting (process the superblock, get file system information, mount, attach to the mount point). Compatibility of libmount with older Linux kernels and the old mounting API is preserved. An option «—disable-libmount-mountfd-support» has been added to forcibly disable the new API.\n
Using the new mounting API has enabled the implementation of support for mapping user IDs of mounted file systems, used for associating files of a specific user on a mounted foreign partition with another user in the current system. An option «X-mount.idmap=» has been added to the mount utility for managing the mapping.\n
New options have been added to the mount utility: «X-mount.auto-fstypes» for automatic detection of a specific type of file system, «X-mount.{owner,group,mode}» for changing owner, group, and access mode after mounting, and «rootcontext=@target» for setting the SELinux context for the file system. For VFS flags, support for the «recursive» argument has been added (for example, «mount -o bind,ro=recursive»).\n
