Alan Somers, a developer of a new FUSE driver implementation for FreeBSD and author of Rust bindings over some FreeBSD libraries, started a discussion on the process of integrating Rust code into the base system. During the discussion among the project's committers, the cost and benefits of the integration were identified. The cost of adding Rust support will be a doubling of the build time, while the benefit will be the simplification of the development of certain utilities. <\/p>\n
