A Chrome Canary test build has added an automatic password change feature based on AI usage. This option can be enabled in the 'Experimental AI Features' section (chrome:\/\/settings\/ai). If a password is deemed compromised, Chrome will display a warning when trying to log in with that password, suggesting to change it. If agreed, the browser will generate a strong password, change it on the site, and save the new password in the password manager. <\/p>\n

User password compromise checking, saved in the password manager, appeared in Chrome about 5 years ago and is based on checking logins and passwords against a database of compromised accounts. Google does not disclose the size of its database, but a similar one from the haveibeenpwned.com project covers about 15 billion accounts that were involved in user data leaks. To maintain privacy, a hash prefix comparison is performed on the user side, and the actual passwords and their complete hashes are not transmitted externally. The use of AI in the proposed new implementation for testing involves automating password changes on websites\u2014AI will automatically fill out and submit the necessary web forms on the required site and update the saved password.
