The reduction in the release cycle is presented as an experiment aimed at providing users with new features more frequently, ensuring a more predictable release process, and reducing the workload on developers prior to releases. Developers will be able to take a more lenient approach to completing unfinished features and spend as much time as needed to finish work without creating deadlines. The effectiveness of the shortened development cycle will be closely monitored and adjusted if necessary.

In March, Google announced its transition to a two-week development cycle for Chrome, while not changing the release cycle for Extended Stable builds (every 8 weeks), Dev (1-2 times a week), and Canary (daily). The shortened Chrome development cycle will begin on September 8, after the release of Chrome 153 according to the old schedule. The goal of this reduction in the development cycle is to publish new features, bug fixes, and optimizations more quickly. It is assumed that more frequent releases will not impact quality, reduce the risk of update failures, and simplify debugging, as each release will include fewer changes.
Forrás: opennet.ru
