The issue was introduced in the new verification implemented in OpenSSL 1.1.1h, which prohibits the use of certificates in the chain where the parameters of the elliptic curve are explicitly encoded.\n<p>Due to an error in the code, the new check overridden the result of the previous certificate authority validity check. As a result, certificates signed by a self-signed certificate without a trust chain to the certificate authority were treated as fully trustworthy.
