Á hverju ári veitir British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) ekki aðeins kvikmyndir og sjónvarpsþætti, heldur einnig tölvuleiki. Oft á BAFTA Games Awards voru verkefni sem unnu öll önnur verðlaun ekki valin besti leikur ársins: Fallout 4, til dæmis vann The Witcher 3, og í fyrra sigraði What Remains of Edith Finch skyndilega títaninn í andlitinu The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. En í ár kom ekkert á óvart - God of War vann.
Leikurinn hefur alls fengið fimm verðlaun - gagnrýnendur tóku einnig eftir hljóðhönnun hans, tónlist og frásögn og verðlaunuðu á sama tíma Jeremy Davies fyrir hlutverk sitt sem Balder. Return of the Obra Dinn vann tvær styttur fyrir leikhönnun og liststjórn. Nintendo tók heim tvö til viðbótar - Nintendo Labo sett unnu í flokkunum „Besti fjölskylduleikurinn“ og „Nýstungasti leikurinn“.
Það sem kom mest á óvart var tilnefningin „Besti breski leikurinn“. Svo virtist sem Red Dead Redemption 2 ætti enga keppendur hér, en dómnefndin valdi Forza Horizon 4. Þar að auki fékk hugarfóstur Rockstar á endanum ekki ein verðlaun.
