In Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and other Chromium-based browsers, to copy a password you need to click on the eye icon and then view or copy the characters. While this is a fairly obvious solution, it does have its drawbacks. Specifically, the password can be easily seen, which makes this approach ineffective.
And so in Google is working on adding the ability to copy a password without opening it. For now, this functionality is aimed at Windows 10, and Google currently has no plans to include it in macOS. There are also no details regarding Linux.
The idea is to add an option in the Password Settings to copy characters to the clipboard. The corresponding functionality will appear later; for now, it is just a commit. After copying the password, it will be possible to paste it where needed, as is implemented in Android. In the future, it is expected that this feature will also appear in other Chromium-based browsers.
